Dental SEO, Local Listing matters

Your local listing in the web is kind of like being in your local Yellow Pages.  Local listings provide information in an organized , searchable manner for Internet users.  The companies that come to mind are Yahoo, Yelp, Merchant Circle, LinkenedIn, Yellow Pages, Supermeadia, Mapquest, and others.

In this competitive SEO market even dentists need to optimize their website for searching.  Over the past few weeks we have shared tips and tricks to apply to your website to make it more searchable on the web.  Well one major thing you should do is register your website on the sites listed above and more.  By these major sites having your place of business in their database you are more likely to come up in a search.  Now yes that biggest search will always be Google, but maybe someone wants to find your local business at  If you don’t have a free internet listing set up there is a strong chance you might be missing out on some business.  So our company would encourage you to go on these sites and register your Dentist office.  The more exposure you get the more likely you are to grow your business to where it needs to be.  Once again if you need help with any of this we will be more than happy to help you with any of your SEO needs.  Please also comment if you have had any news on how our tips have helped you over the past week.  We look forward to hearing from you!

The key to a good SEO’ed website is keywords

If you haven’t heard of the word keywords you have not been doing any marketing research for your website.  So the biggest question is what are the keywords you use in your website?  Do you even know what keywords can do for you on your website for SEO purposes and your Google ranks?  Well if you don’t know the answers to these questions or have no clue what we are talking about, it might be high time to call us so we can help you get more of a presence on the web.  So here I am going to educate you a bit on why keywords matter.  Google sends out these spiders to all the websites on the internet and what they do is spider through your website code and filter it using an algorithm that will change every so often.  The data retrieved from these spiders will be two fold.  First it will determine what keywords on your site will come on the Google searches and second of all it will give you a ranking on how your site will be listed for the keyword searches.  With this your website should figure out the most strategic of keywords that your possible patients use when searching for a dental practice.

Now how do we select our keywords?  The one way to do it is by using the Google Adwords Keyword Tool which will find out what keyword phrases.  The first thing to do is go through your dental services, symptoms patients talk about, cities you serve and also synonyms for any of the above mentioned.  Now what you will do with the list you have made is create phrases that you think patients may put into a Google search engine.  Put these into the Google Adwords Keyword Tool and it will show you the related keyword phrases, the popularity locally and nationally and of course the competition for these words.

Now you have the keywords you have to figure out a way to implement them.  It isn’t always the best idea to go after the most competitive keywords or the even the keywords that are searched for the most.  The idea is to find a strategic balance of popularity and competitiveness.  So the best way to go about it is to mix some competitive terms with some keywords that low competition but may have decent popularity.    Now put these phrases into your website and make sure they are natural and the content is original.  Google dislikes duplicate content.  With these suggestions you are at a starting point for your SEO needs.  Any questions or comments, feel free to add them below.

Ways to help your Dental Website work: Blogs

The past few weeks we have been working on trying to help your dental practice with SEO (Search Engine Optimization).  These very valuable tips can help you when trying to get more patients into your office.  One of the best ways to do this is by making sure that you have a blog on your site with updated content. You can do this every day or once a week, but you should at least update the blog once a week.  Here are a few tips that can help your blog strive.

  • Your blog should help funnel traffic to your site.

Established  readership can be very hard to obtain so it is important that you get someone who is a great writer and is also educated in the dental practice.  By having this readership and writing you can build more credibility for you website and practice.  This will help keep you at the top of Google’s list.

  •  Use your blog to inform your patients.

In this world where information is plentiful it is important to make sure you use this blog to inform patients on  how to better take care of their teeth, new programs for the practice and technologies.  You need to make sure that the information is correct and accurate and this can help you bring new patients into your office.

  •  The blog can be used to answer inquires.

Finally the biggest thing the blog can help you do is answer questions and inquires your patients may have.  This is a big deal because if you have questions unanswered it could cost you not just one patient but any patients that don’t feel that you are taking the time to answer questions.  So sometimes it is good to just answer some frequently asked questions on your blog and this could help drive better traffic and help answer clients questions that could be very important to them coming to y our practice.

Google SEO tips

Last week we talked about getting you better reviews on Google and using a social media push to really get some of that done, but what about that one person who is searching a for a brand new dentist and doesn’t know where to start.  So for example they just put the search term, Dentists in Boston.  Now a bunch of dentists will come up but how do you know if you will be the one to be at the top.  Well that is difficult to know unless you have a company like us working hand and hand with you to get you ranked better in the Google search.  Now if you don’t have the money to invest into a company to do your SEO work for you we do have some tips to help you out.  The first comes down to what does Google actually look for when considering what sites to rank.  Well these are a few things that Google asks:

  1. Is the content mass produced by or outsourced to a large number of creators, or spread across a large network of sites, so that individual pages or sites don’t get as much attention or care?
  2. Does this article provide a complete or comprehensive description of the topic?
  3. Does this article contain insightful analysis or interesting information that is beyond obvious?

From this I would say one major take away should be made, Google wants top quality, new, original, expert information and if you can provide this type of content for your company’s website you will have a major opportunity to be indexed very high for your targeted keywords.  So now the questions become do you have to time to create and set up all this content yourself?  Or would it be worth the time to have a professional like us do the work for you?

Dental SEO: Ways to get better traffic on Google

We all have special terms for things in every industry and there are times when two industries meet and one industry may not have any clue on how the other industry truly works and that is when you hire professionals that deal with that industry.  One industry that can be difficult to understand is internet marketing and not many dentists have time to truly learn and understand what goes into it.  One of the biggest ways to get noticed by the public is to do what is called SEO or Search Engine Optimization.  Back before the internet existed we would use a phone book but now when we need to find something we Google it.  So it is vital that everyone has a presence on Google but with so many companies out there doing the same things how can you make it to page 1?  It Is not easy but there are formulas out there and if you spend enough money you can make it to page one.  In this article we are going to give you some tips to help you with SEO and if you are interested we also offer SEO services to help your business be number 1 on Google.

There are a few tips we can give and one of them is what you are reading right now and come weekly to read and it is this blog.  Google loves content updates and changes and one of the best ways to update content on your site without having to change the core of your website is of course a blog.  Blogs are a great way to get people to your site to read about new and changing information in your industry.  By getting people read your blog and even interact with it, you can make a big impression on Google.  By adding social networks to your blog such as Facebook and Twitter you are spreading your internet presences and the bigger the presence the more likely Google will take notice.

Another step is to have a Google’s place page.  This will help Google find you better and will also put you in play in Google maps that will give a potential customer more information on your company and people can also review you which will help your practice if you are very good at what you do.  There are many ways to get good reviews on Google.  It can be as simple as asking for an email address and sending clients an email asking how the service was and seeing if they will put up a review for you.  Obviously by doing this you can control who gets the emails by basing it on the mood of the clients when they leave.  You can also set up an account with a company like survey monkey for those who may not have a user account but may want to add input to make your practice better.  By having these two options you are giving the patients options and makes them feel important and also doesn’t look like all you are doing is fishing for Google reviews.

A third thing you can do is make sure you have a presence on Facebook and Twitter.  It is free and easy to make a Facebook and Twitter account.  Social networking is a key component to your online presence and by having these accounts you are giving yourself a well need presence in this online world.

I hope you enjoyed these tips on how to make your practice more visible online and please if you have any comments or questions feel free to post them here or contact us as we are taking on new SEO clients.

Top Five reasons to buy a cloud practice management solution

Here are the top 5 reasons you should consider changing to a cloud practice management software:

  1. Minimal upfront costs.  Many providers will offer you a monthly fee structure as the preferred method of payment and in many cases you would actually cost less than buying a program that you have to host yourself.
  2. The cloud program would handle updates of the software to their servers which relieves you of the task of updating your practice management software.
  3. Many of the cloud programs charge monthly based on what you use as far as features and that way you are not paying for features you really don’t use.
  4. Your hardware cost would be far less involved.  If you have a cloud program you don’t need as involved hardware which saves you more money upfront.
  5. The cloud would create a centralized database which makes it much easier for practices with multiple locations and would need simultaneous access to data.

3D Printing in for Dental Practices

3D seems to be the most up and coming technology. From 3D movies to 3D printing, this type of technology is really becoming common place. Well it looks as if 3D is coming to Dentistry in a very big way. The 3D printing aspect where the rubber meets the road for dentistry. The process makes it comfortable for the patient as now you don’t have to bite down on the clay for a mold but with the 3D printing and scanning removes all of that for the patient This also makes the process faster and easier. The types of plastic used include a polyamide and polyester. A company called Statasys has created a launch of Objet30 and OrthoDesk 3D printer for designed for smaller orthodontic labs and clinics. Also in 2011 Startasys also acquired Objet and Solidscape, which is a manufacturer of high precision 3D printers which is actually used for casting applications that require ultra-fine feature detail. The printers targets medium-sized dental laboratories and is used to create very high quality pressable and castable dental restorations.

At EnvisionTEC they showed 3Dent which is a printer that has a build envelope of 279 x 184 x 76mm and has a resolution of 25 microns for printing models. This printer uses a process called Selective Contour Photo curing or SCP to compete with other models. Want to know more about 3D printing and how it can help your dental business grow?
